You can check the new logging feature for an example how it registers itself using a featue. Btw. The logging intent is registered by default already. See: https://github.com/apache/cxf/blob/master/rt/features/logging/src/main/java/org/apache/cxf/ext/logging/osgi/Activator.java#L89
