First of all, thanks Ocke for your quick and perfect answer. I spent three hours yesterday trying to solve that problem and you did it in perhaps 30 seconds!
Now another, I'm sure, very simple problem.
I can now create a table with fields for the hsqldb database in OO 1.1.3 however in the field setup for new tables I do not seem to see the option for making a field a primary field. I use hsql and mysql with OO in windows and seem to remember that that option was found by clicking the small column to the left of the field name but perhaps I am just missing the option somewhere with OO in Linux.
I mention this because it it the first thing I noticed "different" when creating my first hsqldb table using OO with Linux.
Now the real problem. I can save this new table, with a few fields, as "table1" or some other name. The new table name then shows up in the "Data Sources" column, ie. F4 in OO. So far, so good, and a lot better than yesterday!
However when I click on this new table in Data Sources, in order to see the tables new empty fields and in order to add some simple data, I get the following error message:
"The data content could not be loaded. This function is not supported." Clicking on the "More" button in the error box tells me that the SQL Status is IM001 and that the error code is -20.
BTW for good or bad I did run the IgnorePrivileges macro described on the OO DBA How To page, and in the Hsqldb OO guide. It did not seem to make any difference.
