- open both databases - drag and drop the table from the one DB to the "Tables" container of the other DB => a wizard appears which will guide you through the copying

I have 40165 lines of (OOo) data (maybe 3 or 4 columns) in a csv file that I can use to play with in the new database system... but I'm stuck in this same place and am a wicked newbie at the database stuff. Will the technique shown above work for my situation too? Do I need to convert my csv file to a spreadsheet database connection before I begin xfer of the data into the database?
When I open the OOo Base module and then do File > New > Database..., a database wizard opens. If I click the Help button here or on the following screen accessed by the Next button I get this message from the help file:
