Hi everybody, I'm trying to convert a MS Access contact database to OpenOffice.org. The problem is not to access the data, but the way that Access works together with Word, Excel, etc.
Currently, the users open the Access database form to search for the required person. Now, when the correct person is selected in the form, they open, e.g., a Word template, which is obviously connected to the same datasource, and it automatically fills the fields with the values of the person that is selected in Access. To be clear: The Word template is not opened from within the Access form, it is opened independently, but seems to somehow know the selected entry in Access. This seems much more simple than to open the data source view in OOo, search for the required entry, select the row, and manually click on the "data in fields" button. Is there any way I could do the same with OpenOffice.org Base and Writer, Calc, etc.? And if not the way Access does it, could I place a button into the form to open a file dialog, in which the user can then select the template to fill with the values of the currently selected entry? Thanks and kind regards, Severin --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
