The only reason for this I know was a strange ODBC driver on Windows: 3.51.10 did produce this error, 3.51.11 didn't. Unfortunately, 3.51.11 wasn't available for Linux last time I checked. Also, it might be possible that the problem you encounter isn't really caused by the ODBC driver, as you say it worked in previous versions. Hmm.
