Hi Ger,

The OP is however correct in that there are very few documents written
specifically for using the db module. 3 how-tos, a couple of user
guides,  a section for the upcoming V2.

One of the reasons for this is probably that db applications tend to be
specific to a particular problem that a user might have, rather than a
general concept, which probably leads many potential contributors to
feel that it is not worth the effort to write documentation for
something that will only be of extremely limited interest, if at all,
to others.

It is worth noting that the included online help within OpenOffice.org
can be useful, but paradoxically none of the documentation projects seem
to have links to the specific pages of that help.
