As a non-technical user I fully support the above.

I learned my programming on COBOL, Fortran and Neat3 (giving my age away I
guess :-) ). By the time C, C++, VB and the various scripting dialects came
out, I was in IT management and while I always understood the concepts,
there was never time to learn these at bit level. (I managed people who
did).

I know the fundamentals of Basic and am quite fluent in SQL and have been
working with form and report generators for years.

As I mentioned in another post, with these limited skills I can do some
quite fancy stuff in MSA, but not (yet) in Base.

I guess the responsible OOo managers have to make a call who their target
audience is, people like me or the hot shot developers.

Dare I say that there are probably thousands of companies out there with the
same attitude, i.e. a huge market.
