Ho Ocke,

In the end I found the solution to be to upgrade my JRE from 1.4 to 5.0
(1.5). It seems that pre RC snapshots were quite happy with 1.4, but the RC
are not.

I am not technical enough to debate the validity of the above statement, but
it did solve my problems :-)
