I am sending again a compilation of the emails I posted last month. I
received a detailed tutorial from Andrew Douglas Pitonyak. I followed the
instructions but the systems continues to crash although I tried several
combinations.

1. I chose from Database Wizard "Connect to an existing Database" -->My Sql
2. Setup a Connection-->Connect using JDBC
3. Setup a connection
a. Name of the Database: press
b. Server Url: jdbc:mysql://localhost/press
c. Port number: 3306
d. My Sql Jdbc driver class: com.mysql.jdbc.Driver
4. User name: root
Password not required
5. Yes register my Database
Open the Database for editing
I save the database with the name Javapress. When I click on the tables
icon I get the message "The connection to the 'Javapress' Datasource could
not be established. The connection to the external Data source could not
be established. An unknown error occured. The driver is probably defective.
I have the last edition of Java installed for Win Xp.

I even downloaded JRE 1.4.2 although I have already installed 1.5 in my
computer. The problem is that in step 3. Although OO regognises the JRE
and the class of "mysql-connector-java-3.1.10", when I close the program
and reopen it the driver and the JRE do not appear in the list any more.
The same happens when I select JRE 1.5 or 1.1 etc. Is there a bug? I
uninstalled and reinstalled OO2 but to no avail. The problem persists.
Moreover when I try the test class button the system crushes.

When I open the same base through an ODBC driver the system is so slow,
the greek characters are not displayed, although I have set the encoding
in UTF-8 in both My-sql and oo2.
When I try to create a form using a wizard (through ODBC, or after having
imported an MS ACCESS file)and I click to the button, the system does not
respond.

Thanks again
Yannis
