Dear OOo Base community,
last week I've sent the email below to the list, but did not receive any
replies. Maybe it's due to my email account which has changed from [EMAIL
PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED] and the email is waiting for some approval.
Therefore I post it again, after I have updated my profile on the website. I
hope it works now.
Regards René

Betreff: Insert data into database connected via JDBC

Dear OOo Base team,
I have an issue with OO Base that seems to be familiar. I read some of the
postings in the last weeks here and experienced some of the same errors. Maybe
I can add a few details that help to solve the issues.
I have created a small database with HSQLDB and its Manager application running
HSQLDB in Server mode. It works just fine, when I connect with the Manager
application. I can insert data, modify tables and so on. Then I tried to use
Base to connect to the database. It works fine as well. I see all the tables
and also all the data in it, but 1. I cannot modify the table structure (same
issue that Kevin James has) 2. I cannot insert or modify any data. It seems the
whole database is in read only mode.

I have played around a bit with Base and it seems it's the same with all
databases that are not directly created with Base. As soon as I start a new
database in Base and create a primary key (I have followed you discussion on
that topic), everything works fine and I can both insert data and modify table
structure.
I've looked at the JDBC connection dialogs but I could not find a "read only"
setting.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Regards René
P.S. enclosed I added my sample database. It doesn't make a difference wether
the tables are cached or memory. I've tested that.
