But IMO instead of your 2. we should have
2'. Any query should be able to use another query as table source,
regardless of escape processing
That can be achieved with "queries as views", with "editable views", but
not with "replacing table source queries with their statements" (which I
think are the 3 options we have so far).
So it finally boils down to what the requirements are. My assumption,
from what I read in issues and MLs, and from the experience that "Why
can't I do this like in MSA" is still an important requirement for Joe
Average (who, BTW, doesn't (want to) know what the heck views are, or
what's the difference to queries), is that 2' is important to fulfill.
