Hi,
thanks to the combined effort of a number of people, there's hope that
Linux users of OpenOffice.org will be able to access Microsoft Access
databases (.mdb) in a not-too-distant future.
thanks. It would be a great help to migrate from Access to OOo.
An OpenOffice.org database driver, based on the MDBTools project [1], is
currently being developed. On OpenOffice.org side, the credits for this
driver go to Yong Wind Li, Alexandre Horst, Luciano Wolf, and Fridrich
Strba (at least, there've been a lot of people involved over time :).
A preliminary version of an OpenOffice.org installation set, based on
the 680m165 milestone, is available from [2].
If you're interested in this feature, you're encouraged to download and
install this version, and stress it with as many MSA databases as possible.
I downloaded and have a first test.
Provide us with your feedback (preferrably in [email protected]),
to help making this driver even better than it currently is!
Now I can read tables of Ms-Access without a Windows machine.
