That is, we know that extensions are an important mean to increase OOo's popularity, and for extensions you often need UI - which implies you need a capable UI toolkit - AWT. Now "highly capable" is not the first word springing to one's mind when talking about our existing toolkit, that's why we need to improve on this. There has been done a "gap analysis" recently, by Carsten Driesner from the framework team. The results are still to be published (in [EMAIL PROTECTED], IIRC, there was also the call for participation), AFAIK. But one result - surprise! - has been a missing table control (only beaten by a missing tree control). Chances are good something will happen there in a not-too-distant :) future ... As things happen, one name having been mentioned for the generic table control is mine :), so it might in fact be that I will embark on this. If not (which means I would not have to use my precious database-time), then somebody else will. IoW: There's movement.
