which is absolutely correct except the small:

JDBC allows to ask for parameters in prepared statements, which should
also include statements based on views. So, it would be possible for
views, too (though with less convenience than for queries, since the
JDBC API does, for instance, not allow for paramters names, only
numbers). There's an RFE to support this for HSQL, targeted for 2.x.
