Yes. There were no errors reported during the installation. Still, the
driver did not show as a choice when creating a new database.
I went through this in early Oct and finally got it working. The
down side is I can't remember the steps I used and after not really
liking the _way_ Base felt I didn't write them down.
I use this driver with OOo 2.0.x under both Linux and Windows, but I
prefer to install the driver using the package management dialog in
OOo, accessed via "Tools - Package Manager", rather than the command
line method described (for Linux) on the web page. You need to restart
OOo afterwards, which on Windows systems requires closing the
QuickStarter as well as all running OOo apps, then start OOo again.
After that, you should see "postgres" as an option in the list of
databases types. Also, if you want to install the driver for use by
all users on your system then you need to install the driver as the
root user on Linux/Unix, or (I assume) as Administrator on Windows.
The problem appears to be in the Fedora packaged version of OOo.
I've just upgraded from FC3 to FC6 and thought I'd better double check
with OOo 2.0.4 and have found the same problem - the driver is installed
but does not appear in the list. I normally use the OO.org packaged OOo.
I appeared to still have the same OOo 2.0.4 packages from OO.org
installed as before the upgrade although the upgrade had done something
because I now had a /usr/bin/ooffice isntead of /usr/bin/soffice and the
splash screen didn't have the "built by Sun" included, yet I couldn't
find any additional packages.
Next, in case it mattered, I checked the JRE setting was still there,
and found that, somehow, the Sun JDK/JRE 1.5_06 that was there wasn't
anymore, and OOo was using the FSF JRE instead. So I reinstalled the Sun
JRE, but it made no difference re the PostgreSQL driver. As far as the
missing Sun JRE is concerned, I can only suspect that the upgrade
actually uninstalled the JDK rpm that I had there in FC3 - very nasty if
that is true.
I then installed OOo 2.0.3 from OO.org to see if the "postgresql" option
appears in the database type list - and it does.
I then installed the FC6 supplied OOo 2.0.4 packages and check again -
but no "postgresql" in the list.
I then checked for bug reports re the postgresql driver and OOo 2.0.4 in
OOo's Issuezilla and didn't find any.
I then installed OOo 2.0.4 from OO.org to see if the "postgresql" option
appears in the database type list - and it does appear ok.
So my conclusion is that Fedora has messed this up, but I can't imagine
how. The OP said that he's running FC5 and (Fedora packaged?) OOo 2.0.2,
so my suggestion is to uninstall the Fedora openoffice packages and
install the OO.org packages.
The only problem with not using the Fedora packages appears to be that
the desktop-integration redhat-menus rpm from OO.org doesn't appear to
update the FC6 gnome menus until the user logs out and in again, or
manages to refresh the menus in some other way. The gain however is that
you get a nicer set of icons and less generic (i.e. easier to identify)
menu descriptions.

For me, apart from a few problems, this driver has been less
problematical in my experience than using the JDBC driver from
PostgreSQL.org.
