Hi Andrew, > If you really want to WOW me, give me the following: > > Parameter Name > Parameter Type > Min and Max allowable entry for scalars > Combo box with selection from string array for strings or user entry > List Box for selection from string array only > Drop Down calendar controls for Date > Spin button enabled controls for Time > Drop Down or Radio Button or Check box controls for Boolean > > The use of the parameter dialog box from the current query mechanism is weak > at best.
The most you get for the first version, I fear ... The solution you describe sounds tempting, but needs an overwhaul of the complete parameter API/UI, which is not easily done. In fact I think getting this specified and implemented is more time we can invest on the medium run ... > If you can't see adding this into the Report Designer at least expose > Parameter Name and Parameter Type via API Which is very valid request for the report designer, IMO. Mid submitting an issue? If you add a comment that competitive applications can do this, plus a good scenario where it is needed (your original mail contained one, IMO), then this raises the chances :) Ciao Frank -- - Frank Schönheit, Software Engineer [EMAIL PROTECTED] - - Sun Microsystems http://www.sun.com/staroffice - - OpenOffice.org Base http://dba.openoffice.org - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
