I imagine that there could be a third way of migration:
- Save the base document as a new one without the embedded form
documents. Save the embedded form documents as writer documents and
change the data source to the saved new base document.
Thus, there is no macro migration needed and the result should work with
older and newer OOo versions.

But at the moment i don't know if this also relates to reports.
