I also wanted to add this to the mix.
This is the latest post from a current topic thread at OOoForum - the
poster owens a small watch repair business.
Emphasis added:
I am getting more fired up with ooBase and my watchmaking project
comes along great with the wonderful help of this board. When
completed, it will be a database / query / report setup without one
line of macro written. I am surprised how much ooBase has matured over
the last two years. It is virtually possible to have an end-user like
myself create quite some sophisticated database for real world use.
(8000-10000 records/year) Slidrule made it easy to get the timing part
POWER RESERVE queries going.
To write MACROS would you recommend that I learn BASE or Pyton? Never
have written a macro before and would love to implement macro writing
to fine tune or improve the watchmaking project. Any links / books you
might recommend for a simple watchmaker? LOL
ooBase is a great starting point and I wish OpenOfficce lots of
success. *Hopefully someday it will be possible to network the
embedded database.*
This reference to networking is because the business has more then 1
employee and will need 3 concurrent users in the database.
