To my knowledge, this function is very old, it has been like this since
StarOffice 3.0 or 4.0 (whenever databases were first accessible in
StarOffice, I must admit I don't remember anymore).
Using mailmerge (this may be platform specific, certainly, on the Mac,
this is a big issue in an office environment).
I'll have a think to see if I can come up with some more.
