HI,
I'm wondering if anyone is being successful at updating the Thunderbird
address book via Base? There was a point at which I could get this to
work, but not any longer and I don't know if it is something I did to my
overall OS configuration, Thunderbird's or OO.o. ( Specifically this is
under XP )
As I understand the thunderbird address book there is no primary key. So
you can't change anything via Base.
Hi Mechtilde,
But there was a point at which you could update the address book. The
only thing you had to do was insure that no mozilla application that
used it was running when you opened the Base file. Having FireFox open
for instance would make it read only. At one point I installed
SeaMonkey, while I still had TB on the machine and from that point
forward I never again was able to update the file, even after removing
SeaMonkey, and I always just chalked it up to having something to do
with that.
Recently though I had a chance to put TB on a totally clean WinXP
machine and then OO.o and found that the update is still impossible, so
it seems then that something changed.
Anyway - there is talk of replacing ( or making available as an option,
I'm not really clear on this from reading the mailing lists ) the data
storage mechanism form RDF to SQLite. When (IF) that happens I suppose
the situation will change.
