Federico,
About a month ago in this forum, Louis Jean-Richard had a similar problem. Here is my workaround suggestion to him:
------------
Louis,
I guess things have changed since I got MySQL-Connector-Java to work with OO.o Base. To my knowledge, at that time there was no extension available. I had to install the mysql-connector-java tarball on my system. The good part of that is that it is always there when I update OO.o. With the extension, you may have to install it each time you update OO.O. Here is an item that may help you:

http://rpbouman.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

This is an archive, so scan down to "Sunday, December 03, 2006" and you will find a procedure to install MySQL-connector-java into OO.o, titled "MySQL meets OpenOffice.org".

This procedure does not use the extension manager (unopkg), so it may be a workaround if you can't get the extension to work.

Good luck.

I have been using MySQL-connector-java successfully for quite a while and believe it to work fine with OO.o. I am currently using OO.o version 2.4.1. What I did have to install was the Sun Report Builder extension. It does install and run fine with OO.o but I have yet to experiment much with it.

I hope this helps.

I followed the tutorial I found here:
http://forge.mysql.com/wiki/Connector_OpenOffice

When trying to add the extension, I get an error. I'm attaching 2 images that
show the problem.

I use OpenOffice.Org 2.4.1-1ubuntu2 on Ubuntu Linux 8.04.

If you need additional info about my system, please ask.

Federico
