Yes, this is a nice project and goes in the right direction ("abandon
gnucash for reporting and use a better suited tool for that").
Actually, it is possible to already surpass that. Just use the new
Gnucash SQL backend and save to sqlite, PostgeSQL or MySQL directly.
Then use OOo to access the data. That is what I've been doing for the
last few days.
