Hi Frank,
Many thanks for the reply and additional wiki link (hadn't found that one!).
Insight into the underbelly of putting it all together is also
fascinating - sure all the hard work will come off and look forward to
trying it out in the near future!
Abraços,
Darren

Hi Darren,
Just wondering if anyone knows about the status / timeline for the
"native" MySQL connector?
From http://forge.mysql.com/wiki/Connector_OpenOffice the current
preview version can only be used with Ooo 2.4.
Any idea when can I try it out with Ooo 3.0.1 or the eagerly awaited 3.1?

This doesn't answer your particular question, but I wanted to take the
chance and advertise this page. The most interesting page for end users
is probably the "Known Problems" page, since it allows you to judge the
progress, if you're interested in. Other than that, the pages contain a
lot of stuff for coordinating the work between the MySQL and the Base team.
For your concrete question: In general, the connector will not work with
OOo 3.0.1, but with 3.1 only.
I cannot give you a concrete time line, this depends on too many factors
which are not under our control. To name two: First, we depend on MySQL
releasing their Connector/C++ (C/C++) and Connector/C (C/C, formerly
known as libmysql, a to-be separate product shortly), which the MySQL
native driver depends upon.
Also, there's some legal reviews pending, for instance because we need
to integrate CMake into the OpenOffice.org build (to build C/C and C/C++).
We are somewhat confident to be able to release a version to the public
in the first half of april, so stay tuned.
Ciao
Frank
