Hello list - and hopefully font of information -or- at least leads perhaps..
Actually this email has two parts:
Part One:
Thanks, in large part to the generousness of the folks over at
WorldLabel.com, OpenOffice.org will be hosting a booth at the American
Library Associations's national conference. There is information about
the event available at
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/US/Home/ALA-2010
If there is anyone on the list that would be interested in helping with
this - most particularly anyone living the Washington DC area that might
be willing to help out at the booth:
I'm trying to arrange a kick-off type get together on IRC at
irc://freenode/ooousa
Feel free to sign up if you want to get more involved (or just browse
the channel..)
- and a meeting scheduler at Doodle:
http://doodle.com/8axp46z5svkc6m32
So that's it for the first part.
Part Two:
As part of this I would live to put together a paper comparing the
projected costs for running a small-medium sized (say a town of 30-100
thousand) library system.
I know that some of the FOSS cataloging systems are running on
PostgreSQL - I assume that EnterpriseDB may be in this market..don't know.
Anyway - if you are and using FOSS or you have a lead for me I would
appreciate a nudge. (direct email works)
This seemed like the right place to ask that - hope it wasn't too far OT.
Thanks for your time,
Drew
