Right now, using the embedded database engine, you can't do that - well,
you already know don't you.
In the next major release 3.3 this will be available by the way.
In the meantime you can do this:
DATEDIFF('dd', "date_col", CURDATE() ) = 30
There is a rather old post on playing with dates in a "tickler" use case
