Thanks, maybe that sort of instruction should be added to the docs ... ;) I have managed to get KDE to boot using .xinitrc, but no joy with any of the display managers including KDM. WIth KDM after I set the session, all I get is a blank window with a white console window top/left.
Also, I can not get Gnome3 to run at all ....
