It does seem that your suspicion is correct; it appears that I do have both 
gcc-10 and gfortran-10 installed, and the Macports selection is being 
overridden. See the attached text files you requested.

    (the executable is called gfortran-mp-10)?

    If possible, it would be best to keep the conversation on the mailing
    list by using "reply-all" (I try to set reply-to but sometimes I miss
    it).
