I haven't looked into it in great detail but I'd recommend looking into something like this because it will generate service wrappers for both windows and unix/linux.

Hi,

I just wrote a little blog post about how to setup /etc/init.d/ scripts for running Felix applications on Debian Linux:

I stumbled on org.apache.felix.daemon which seems to be outdated.

Yes, this is outdated. I had always hoped that someone with interest
would contribute to this effort.

What is the status of the component? Is there a better way to run Felix as Linux background process than the 'start-stop-daemon' workaround described in the blog post?

I don't have any better suggestions. Maybe someone else does...
