The main .MXML file should start with either mx:WIndowedApplication or
s:WindowedApplication. Do not try to save by using UIComponent.

You don't need to convert the whole thing. Just the main application file.

So, if I create a .mxml that includes my code (maybe extending from
UIComponent?), will I be able to create the components from AS, or still no
game?

Or should I just define the whole interface in .mxml file then just manipulate
it from AS code?

Thanks!
