Just some more follow up on this problem. I tried using the subversion client to check out / and add the file giving me problems.
This time, I got a Broken Pipe error while the data was being sent across: svn: Can't write to connection: Broken pipe I've tracked down a similar issue in subversion: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-subversion-maintainers/2007-March/000966.html However, even with this fix, I still see the same issue in both svn and fsvs. fsvs doesn't give me a broken pipe error so it might be something else, but I still suspect ssh is causing the problem.
