Hmmm, there are a lot of reports for that error for other subversion clients, 
too ...

Would you please try whether the commandline client svn does work for your 
https:// URLs?

Which program do you use to write the log message, which line end does it have? 
I saw
some reports that "LF" is needed, so any basic unix-editor should be fine - but 
that's a
possible cause.

I don't know about emacs, but if you're using vim make sure that "notextmode" 
is set.
