Yes, that's fine.
If I remember correctly the problem was the the CFLAGS/LDFLAGS were wrong, so
that some libraries couldn't be found.
Do you have libapr1, libsvn1, libgdbm and the others needed?
Please send me your config.log.

Versioning your /etc, /home or even your whole installation?
Try fsvs (fsvs.tigris.org)!
