Your createNode function isn't returning anything. i.e. change
GeoExt.tree.LayerLoader.prototype.createNode.call(this, attr);
to
return GeoExt.tree.LayerLoader.prototype.createNode.call(this, attr);
I'm no expert, but that's what I did.
