Is > it just complex documents that are not successfully saving, or have you > tried simple documents with just one or two words as well? > I routinely use LO for books I'm writing, and while they aren't particularly complicated, they are long and contain a number of different paragraph styles, fonts, emphases, etc. I occasionally get oddball conversion funnies, like italicized words or phrases that are not italicized in the .doc file, but other than that it seems to work fine.
I never had a problem with this in OOo (3.2.1 and earlier), not even with embedded images, frames and fancy formatting "things." The .doc files don't look the same in Word, but that's not surprising (or unusual).
