I am also running Mandriva Linux 2010.1 with LibreOffice 3.3 RC2. I had to switch to a tty (CTRL+ALT+F1), login there, use top to get the pid for LibreOffice and kill this process. Afterwards I could go back to my x-session (CTRL+ALT+F7). The only other program open was chromium (my browser) and two more files within LibreOffice.
