It seems Mint switched to Debian in September 2010 (see Linux-User 02.2011
of Germany).

That means you have downloaded the source code? Then you need two packages.
Please read the detailed infos about compiling LO sources by yourself - and
give your computer much time (usually for the first run ~ 12 hours).

This is the easier way - which I have done, too. 
Then LO runs in not more then two minutes. 
Then installing dictionaries ... two more minutes.
