To continue this discussion... From what I can tell, it's a writer problem
whereby a textframe that has a backgroundURL set (embedded image) and the
frame itself having an embedded image as it contents (or a part of its
contents), all goes horribly wrong.

One other approach perhaps is to loop through the document - the ODT
document (once finished), and obtain each of the graphics (embedded or not)
in the document. For each graphic, export the image (no longer embedded),
and store the graphic at a relative location nearby. Perhaps a ZIP file...
Where after extracting you get your MS Word document along with all of the
images that make up the original document?

Thoughts or other suggestions? At present it means I can't go live with my
solution until I have a viable workaround to my problem, or Oracle fix the
OpenOffice issue (I guess :-( )

Thanks for any words of wisdom you may be able to shed.

Chris

Hello my name is Chris Fleischmann, I have been using the OpenOffice SDK
with OpenOffice.org for quite some time. All was working well, except for
when I tried to save my document to MS Word format. I came across a bug
where by a TextFrame with a background image (attribute: BackGraphicURL is
set), contains another TextFrame holding an image, (see uploaded
http://www.openoffice.org/nonav/issues/showattachment.cgi/67358/test2.sxwsample
exhibiting one of the errors seen when opening in MS Word)... When
trying to save the document, you get an error and the document doesn't open
properly in MS Word, 2000, XP, 2003 or 2007. I previously logged a bug
against this as: http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=103356

However this bug was closed as a duplicate of :
http://www.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=32638... However this bug
is not the same I believe, and exhibits different behaviours... In any case,
this bug has been opened for some time, and I guess I am hoping for a
solution or any possible workaround. I can't imagine people liking the idea
that they can't save their documents in MS Word format to not be able to
open?

I have tried now using LibreOffice for personal reasons as well as newer
features, but the problem still can be observed with 3.3.0
OOO330m19 (Build:6), tag libreoffice-3.3.0.4

Thanks for any help you may be able to provide on the subject.

Kind Regards,

Chris
