Personally I don't use the addon, I just get my outgoing mail put to a
separate directory that I run mail filters on manually.

Yes, I have done this too. But the hope is to have this done automatically.
I have added my name to the bug-feature from 1999 and hope that others
will too. It shouldn't be a difficult feature to implement as the filter
code is already working quite well on all other directories.
Oh well, I guess we can always wait a little longer.
