An interface which is very forum-like is the nabble interface:

Try it and see, Elizabeth.  You have to subscribe there, too, but I believe 
once you are subscribed there, you can unsubscribe from the mailing list, and 
merely surf to Nabble to see the issues you want to or just browse.
