Hi :) I'm not used to using boxes so i am very clumsy with them. When you "Anchor to character" (or paragraph) how can you select which character (or paragraph) the box is anchored too?
I found that when i selected an area of text including text that was before the text-box then i could drag&drop the selection and the box moved. When i cut&paste it didn't. When i only selected text that followed after the text-box then it didn't move when i tried dragging it either. So it seems the paragraph (or character) that the box is anchored to is not obvious to me and is not the one i would want it to be. Regards from Tom :) PS from help i found this (i don't know if the formatting will be removed, it probably will be messy) which doesn't really help because it's unclear what "The current paragraph" is ... You can use anchors to position an object, graphic, or frame in a document. An anchored item remains in place, or moves when you modify the document. The following anchoring options are available: Anchoring Effect As character Anchors the selected item as a character in the current text. If the height of the selected item is greater than the current font size, the height of the line containing the item is increased. To centre an image on an HTML page, insert the image, anchor it "as character", then centre the paragraph. To character Anchors the selected item to a character. To paragraph Anchors the selected item to the current paragraph. To page Anchors the selected item to the current page. To frame Anchors the selected item to the surrounding frame. When you insert an object, graphic, or frame, an anchor icon appears where the item is anchored. You can position an anchored item by dragging the item to another location. To change the anchoring options of an item, right-click the item, and then choose an option from the Anchor sub-menu. ________________________________ From: webmaster for Kracked Press Productions <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Mon, 30 May, 2011 13:14:17 Subject: Re: [libreoffice-users] Please disregard the previous messages, this is the correct link On 05/30/2011 06:41 AM, Kemal Gençay wrote: > Thank you for a wonderful product. > > I use LinuxMint with GNOME 2.32 and LibreOffice 3.3.2 build 202. > > Using Write, I go to the beginning of a paragraph and insert a frame, and > choose "Anchor to Paragraph" option. > > But when I move the paragraph elsewhere, the inserted frame does not > accompany but stays where it was originally inserted on the page. OK, how have you "moved" the paragraph? Cut/paste? The document you sent is "sparse" and I do not know what you are doing for moving the text. Are you adding text to the before the paragraph, but after the frame? Are you moving the paragraph to a different portion of a page that has several paragraphs on it? That would help us better to answer your question. Myself, I usually need to anchor to the page, since every time I reformat a page with an image on it and the image is anchored to a paragraph, the image position tends to move differently than I wanted - but it does move when the anchor paragraph is moved. I do wonder what is the difference as anchor TO a character vs. anchor AS a character. -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [email protected] Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/www/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted -- Unsubscribe instructions: E-mail to [email protected] Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/www/users/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
