It's not a question of formatting. The OP wants to type 123 and for the cell
to display $1.23
Yes I know the accountancy notation pretty well (can even give a clumsy
work around). But in the original post I read:
" the result would be formatted to 1.23 (one dollar and twenty-three
cents). "
So I did not conclude that the question was about accountancy notation.
