As far as I understand, if you already have LibreOffice from your distribution repositories, then it is advised to perform a parallel installation of the upstream (from www.libreoffice.org) package. Because, when you install an upstream version, it removes the distribution version. See http://simos.info/blog/archives/1196 for an example on how to install upstream versions of LibreOffice (from www.LibreOffice.org) along with the distribution version of LibreOffice.
