Hi :) Base is tricky. There are a few experts out there but it's not something that most people use a lot so not many people know odd tricks and common pitfalls. Also the documentation for it is not yet done and is not likely to be completed any time soon. It's annoying but that is just the way of things at the moment.
The best documentation at the moment is Chapter 8 in the Getting Started guide http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/ I also heard of a forum or something in OpenOffice that might be worth trying to find.
