In the longer term the situation might change but in the short to mid-term it's 
going nowhere.  If it works tolerably well then stick with it but explore other 
options.  It is good to post bug-reports especially if they are small 
bite-sized 
potentially "easy hacks" as a lot of those might entice people to have a go.

Looks like this might be the only choice in the mid/long term. It's a real pity,
however. I have to write reports based on tables in my database quite often and
have defined numerous reports using the Report Writer (I hope that THAT piece
of software will be with us for a while yet!!). Of course I can re-define the
reports on the basis of a csv-file imported to the writer, but this is 
definitely
more work, not an advertisement for LO and not ideal by any means.
Regarding using a different front-end, I will have a look at programs such as
phpMyAdmin - again, in my mind !no comparison!
