Hi :) On linux systems it might be easier to install mozilla-libreoffice I'm not sure what to do for Windows or Mac but it was interesting to see that there is an ActiveX thing for LibreOffice :) It's probably safer than most ActiveX controls as i would guess that it's written with the usual OpenSource regard for safety as higher priority than functionality.

The nasties that can come with ActiveX is a big reason that many people moved to Firefox as their default browser over IE. There are ways to help use IE and not have those nasties mess with your system, but it is just easier to use Firefox, Chrome, Opera, Sahara, or some other non-IE browser on Windows. I have to check if I have installed that Firefox add-on since my drive replacement.
