HI :)
I agree with the assessment of "not a blocker" as i can write letters and short
documents quite happily without needing footnotes at all. I don't even see it
as critical tbh. There does seem to have been a lot of work done on it just a
few weeks ago. Perhaps the devs list needs a nudge to see how it's going? Can
you add a comment to the bug-report to give it a bump? Anything useful to add
that would be a good excuse for bumping it?
Regards from
Tom :)

Subject: [libreoffice-users] Always starts in Recovery mode when footnotes,
endnotes

Any word on when bug https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39510 will
be fixed? Writer in 3.4.2 is very tough to use with footnotes or endnotes.
Closing any document crashes! The crash and recovery can be ignored, as an
annoyance, if editing a single document, but if you have multiple documents
open you never know if you have made all your saves. The crash is silent but
leaves behind lock files.

Hard to believe this bug was changed from a blocker to critical, just
because it had existed in 3.4.0. Many users were still on the 3.3.x train. A
word processor must be able to handle footnotes.
