Yes, it should generally work OK, even if you use the default hsqldb engine to create your ODB document. It is best if the target host and the creator host use the same version of LibreOffice though, as a difference in versions of LibreOffice or OpenOffice.org can sometimes be the source of problems with Base files (but not systematically).
