Hallo all

Many thanks for all your help.

The move from Vista made a tremendous difference. I use only laptops at home
and my old machine used to over-heat terribly (I won't say which
manufacturer, only that they have left the laptop business). When I started
having boot problems as well, I bought a new computer. With Fedora, the old
machine has started behaving itself.

As regards transferring material, I tend to do it the lazy way. Gmail works
well on both machines, thus the smaller files are sent as attachments to
myself in Gmail and the larger files are on Google Docs.

I could set up a household network using my router, but my son also has a
computer and he is not so careful about viruses.

I am still at work (3.30 p.m. here) but hope to follow through with the
various suggestions this evening or tomorrow morning

Thank you again

Chaim
