It seems like how libreoffice handles the control + arrow key keyboard
shortcut has changed from how I'm used to using it.

Pressing control + left arrow works as expected (skipping to the next
"beginning of word" to the left. The cursor moves a word to the left.
However, control + right arrow works in a way that's different, and less
useful.

Instead of moving to the next "end of word" to the right (as I expected it
to), it skips to the next "beginning of word" to the right.

While this is almost the same, there's one instance which is very
interesting.

The most irritating use case control + right arrow key is when I want to
move the cursor (pipe symbol) from

"Lorem |ipsum.

Dolor sit amet. "

to
"Lorem ipsum.|

Dolor sit amet. "

Instead, it moves to

"Lorem ipsum.

|Dolor sit amet. "

This is particularly irritating when it skips across a pagebreak, images, or
multiple newlines.

Is there a plugin to alter this functionality? I've tried searching, but
unfortunately either it doesn't exist or I can't seem to figure out good
enough keywords to turn up anything.
