Opening Word Perfect files should work, the file type is listed under the Open command. But I do not have any WP files to test.
I did not pay attention to the list of file types as OO.o used to recognize the format from the first few bytes. Apparently, LO doesn't. Or, the problem was that the extensions were .wp (since WP never bothered with extensions anyway) and I changed them to .wpd. With that extension and specifying to LO that they're WP docs, the problem is resolved.
